yeah but at least you are living in California! cheers man, if you wanna come to France let me know we have many good trails, and if you miss your black rocky dirt, we have that kind of spots too ;-)
haha no it is not. this grey dirt is amazing, no rock, easy to build, easy to pack, we don't ride taht much during summer, because it's too dry. cheers 
You should go to Peynier near Aix en Provence, open to mtb and bmx, otherwise others trails I know are private, the first one get ploughed just after our trip overthere... but there is a little bike park in the same city Grabel. You should go to some skate park find some bmxers, and ask them... you will be welcome on most of the trails if you bring your shovel... have fun and sorry I can't be more specific I'm not from south ;-)
the first one is in the south close to Montpellier, the others are on the north west coast close to Nantes. 
Like a french energy drink says, "you don't need wings when you have nuts", this guy definitely has both!!
